ICAI Inviting Applications for CA Exam Observer: Know How to Apply If you are a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and want to be an exam observer for the upcoming CA exams in September 2025, then you should know that the ICAI is inviting applications for CA exam observers. The CA final and intermediate exams will be conducted between September 3, 2025, and September 15, 2025. Meanwhile, the CA foundation examination will be held on September 16, September 18, September 20, and September 22, 2025.

Duties of Observer

The exam observer must ensure the smooth conduct of CA exams. They must make sure that the question papers are collected from the bank (kept safe under lock and key) and the same are distributed to the right candidates. They are also required to stay at the exam center till the papers are collected and packed for sending, and must submit daily reports online after each exam.

Eligibility Criteria

The members must meet all these conditions to be eligible:

• Age should not be more than 65 years as of 14th July 2025.
• They must have been a member since 1st March 2023.
• Their family or dependents are not appearing in the Sept 2025 exams.
• They are not involved in CA coaching for any examinations or tests conducted by ICAI branches, private tuitions, or Regional councils.
• They should not have any criminal records or disciplinary proceedings against them.
• They should not be connected with the institute as an elected or co-opted member of the ICAI Council, Regional Councils, or the Managing Committee of any Branches of iCAI.

Additionally, there should be a cooling-off period for one attempt after three (3) consecutive attempts for Observership duties.

Pay Level

  The observer will be paid Rs 3,750 per day/per session along with conveyance of Rs 500/day for 'A' class cities and Rs 400/day for other cities.

• 'A' Class cities include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune.
• Other cities fall under the 'B' class cities.

Work Location

The members will be assigned duties based on their professional address on the SSP Portal. Therefore, make sure to update your address on the SSP portal.

How to Apply

• The interested and eligible member can apply online by visiting http://observers.icaiexam.icai.org.
• The application to apply for the CA exam observer will be available from July 14, 2025 and will end on August 3, 2025. The tentative date for hosting the details of self-selection of observer assignment is the last week of August 2025.
