ICAI Prepares Research Papers to Assist SEBI in Tackling Financial Fraud Cases
The apex body of chartered accountants, i.e., the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), is preparing a research paper to assist the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the market regulator, in handling or combating finance-related frauds. The main motive behind this move is to grow the financial market and also to protect the interests of investors. Charanjot Singh Nanda, the president of ICAI, said on Saturday that the authority will soon organise a working group, and discussions will be held with SEBI. Where distinct ways will be discussed about how financial fraud can be tackled. A research paper is asked to be submitted by the working group to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Nanda. On Friday, a meeting was held between Nanda and SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. In the previous few years, an increase in investment has been noticed in the capital market, including from retail investors. There have also been cases of financial wrongdoing and manipulated prices. In order to protect the interests of investors and enhance the financial market, numerous steps can be taken by the regulatory body in order to overcome fraud.About Author
