Income Tax 2025: These New ITR Changes Make Filing Easier
The Income Tax Department has introduced a new initiative to simplify the return filing process. The department has recently made changes to the Income Tax E-filing portal. As a part of this upgrade, a new AI chatbot "Kar Saathi" has been introduced to the portal. The chatbot will offer instant help to the taxpayers by addressing their issues in real time.
The Income Tax Act, 2025, has been implemented in India. The new law simplifies the tax system. It cuts down the total number of rules from 510 to 333, and the forms have been reduced from 399 to 190. The new law reduces the compliance burden for taxpayers. Kar Saathi plays an important role in facilitating the shift to the new Income Tax Act, 2025.
The updated portal introduces more taxpayer-friendly navigation, quicker access, and a smoother experience. The new Chatbot, Kar Saathi, helps the taxpayers to understand the new tax rules, address issues, and file ITRs. By using this Chatbot, taxpayers will rely less on third parties for filing their returns. The income version of the portal has received positive feedback.
The recent initiative under CBDT called PRARAMBH also contributed to simplifying the tax administration. To further help the taxpayers, the CBDT has made over 2,200 FAQs and detailed guidance materials for 186 forms. Apart from this, extra support tools include tutorial videos, multilingual resources, and campaigns through platforms like MyGov.
