Beware of Fake Refund Alerts As per the Income Tax Department’s social media post, a man lost Rs. 1.5 lakh after clicking on a fake income tax refund message. The message took him to a fraudulent app, which accessed his phone banking. The IT Department has clarified that it never calls taxpayers to ask for immediate payments. If you receive such calls, treat them as suspicious and report them to the authorities.
