The Income Tax Department has released the Excel utility for ITR-6 on the e-filing portal for the Assessment Year 2026-27 (Financial Year 2025-26).
ITR-6 is an income tax return form developed for companies registered under the Companies Act that do not claim tax exemptions under Section 11 (charitable or religious purposes).
Now, companies earning income suitable for ITR-6 form, can begun preparing and filing their income tax return (ITR) for the FY 2025-26.
Who Cannot File Use ITR-6 Form?
Companies claiming Section 11 exemptions file ITR-7.
Individuals, HUFs, and partnerships use other forms.
How to Download Excel Utility
Companies can follow the steps below to download the Excel utility for ITR-6:
Step 1: Visit the official Income Tax e-Filing portal.
Step 2: Navigate to the 'Downloads' section.
Step 3: Select the relevant assessment year, i.e., AY 2026-27.
Step 4: Click on the "Download Excel Utility" link for ITR-6 to save the compressed ZIP file.
Step 5: Extract and unlock the Excel sheet properties.
Step 6: Now, manually fill your financial data or import prefilled JSON data.
Step 7: Validate the tabs, generate the final JSON file, and then upload it back to the portal
Key Deadlines for Corporate Taxpayers
October 31, 2026, is the standard due date to file income tax returns (ITR) for corporate entities required to get accounts audited for the assessment year 2026-27.
November 30, 2026, is the due date for companies required to furnish a transfer pricing report under Section 92E of the Income Tax Act.
Note: July 31, 2026, the due date to file income tax returns (ITRs) for the AY 2026-27 for non-audit cases filing ITR-1 and ITR-2 has already ended; however, non-audit cases filing ITR-3 and ITR-4 have time to file their returns until August 31, 2026
