IT Dept. Confiscates Rs. 50 lakh Near Gorakhpur Railway Station; Police Hunt Three Rajasthan Youths
During a recent search operation in Uttar Pradesh, Gorakhpur, on Friday, near a railway station, the Income Tax Department confiscated Rs. 50 lakh. Reports have indicated that a Rajasthani youth is linked to this case, and police officials are searching for the same.
During the investigation, the police officials interrogated a resident of Siddharthnagar's Dumariaganj town, Rajiv Jaiswal, alias Raju, and a purse-bag trader. The purse bag trader was caught with cash in his hand; when asked, he told the police that he got this money from three Rajasthani youths.
Thereafter, in connection with the case, the police also caught a businessman from Rajghat, but could not collect serious information in relation to the case. The thorough investigation concluded that the aforesaid two businessmen were just involved in transferring money. The police have recovered mobile numbers of individuals associated with the Rajghat businessmen. But the police will only be able to collect information about the source of money after receiving CDRs of these individuals.
Police are looking for three young men from Rajasthan who gave the money to a businessman in Siddharthnagar. Only after these youths are arrested will it be known who the money really belongs to.
SP City Abhinav Tyagi said that the Income Tax Department has taken the money, and both businessmen are still being questioned. The investigation is now mainly focused on finding those youths and checking the hawala network.
