IT Dept Organises Tax Awareness Programme in Poonch, Kashmir
The Income Tax Department, along with the District Administration Poonch, held a Tax Awareness Programme at Dak Bungalow in Poonch on November 23, 2023.
The programme presided over by District Treasury Officer Abdul Rashid Dostum, aimed to raise awareness among Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) on income tax regulations.
On behalf of the District Administration Poonch, District Treasury Officer Abdul Rashid Dostum greeted the attendees, who included the DDOs and the Income Tax Officer, and also provided a detailed briefing on income tax regulations to the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) in the meeting.
A team of Income Tax authorities led by Vijay Choudhary, ITO, communicated with taxpayers, DDOs, and other district staff. The program's goal was to aware DDOs and taxpayers aware of the various aspects of the Income Tax Act, as well as to highlight the role of DDOs in tax deductions.
Using PowerPoint presentations and lectures by speakers such as Vijay Choudhary (Income Tax Officer), Mohd. Hanief Tantray (Chief Account Officer), Sumit Kumar (Income Tax Inspector), and Ritender Gupta (Chartered Accountant), the important aspects of the Income Tax Act, such as the filing of timely ITRs, estimation of Income Tax, exemptions, and inclusion of other incomes, besides salaries in ITR were deliberated upon for the audience and stressed upon for adherence.
Various district officers, DDOs, dealing assistants, employees, and representatives of the business fraternity attended the awareness Camp.
DDOs were given information on the necessity of TDS, filing TDS returns, the tax regime, and their roles and responsibilities under the Act.
Speaking on the occasion, District Treasury Officer Abdul Rashid Doustom urged everyone to take advantage of the sessions in order to fulfill their financial obligations, while also emphasising the importance of taxes in the nation's socioeconomic development.
