Kakinada Customs Officials seized Cigarettes worth Rs. 90 lakh
The Customs Authorities of Kakinada Division seized 18 lakh cigarettes worth Rs. 90 lakh on Sunday from 2 vehicles on the National Highway (NH) at Rajanagaram in Kakinada district, Hyderabad.
The two vehicles were on their way from Patna, Bihar.
According to Kakinada Division Customs Deputy Commissioner K. Vijaya Kumar, an amount of 9,00,000 sticks of Paris brand cigarettes were found in one vehicle, illegally being transported without paying customs duty. And the rest of the 9,00,000 sticks of Vimal brand cigarettes were transported in a second vehicle in the name of 'damage by nature'.
For further investigation, both vehicles have been seized and handed over to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
