A man who earns a monthly salary of Rs.15000 receives an income tax notice of Rs.33.88 Crore. Another man earning Rs.8,500 crore has been slapped with an income tax notice of Rs.3.87 Crore, and a third man receives an income tax notice of Rs.7.79 Crore. The three notices sent in March to people struggling to make ends meet show that their identities were stolen.

If we concentrate completely on their monthly income, then they are not even eligible to pay income tax.

As per the information gathered by these men and the persons selected by them for personal help, stated that some of the business authorities used their government-issued identification numbers, such as Aadhaar and PAN card.

Karan Kumar (34) received an income tax notice for Rs.33.88 crore. Lawyers told him that a company named Mahaveer Enterprises had been making huge transactions in petroleum products and steel goods in Delhi using a fake PAN and Aadhaar card with his name.

He received the income tax notice on March 29, 2025, at 4 PM. He has also met with the income tax officials in this regard and has also filed an FIR at Chandaus police station, said Karan, a contractual worker at SBI’s Khair branch, to the reporters.

Station House officer (SHO) Chandaus Haribhaan Singh said the investigation is under process.

In another case, Mohit Kumar, who works a small job at a transport company, was shocked when the Income Tax Department sent him a notice of Rs.3.87 crore on March 28, 2025.

He turned to his employer for help, who then contacted a GST lawyer. The lawyer discovered that a company named MK Traders had been doing business using Mohit’s Aadhaar card without his knowledge.

According to the Income Tax Department’s digital records, MK Traders had been making large business transactions since 2020. Based on these records, the department issued the notice, leaving Mohit confused and deeply worried.

He is working on a monthly salary of Rs. 8,500 and also supporting his aged parents. Now he is under heavy stress, said Amit, a Sangor village local who received the income tax notice on March 28, 2025.

He said he has also tried to contact the income tax official who issued the notice, but they showed no response.

Amit, who is in his late 30s, wondered how his personal information was stolen. He remembered that back in 2020, he had applied for a job in Delhi and had given his identity documents at the time.

A juice vendor near the civil court is also among these people who have received an income tax notice. On March 22, Raees Ahmad, who earns a salary of only Rs 500-600 a day, received an income tax notice of Rs 7.79 crore.
