MCA Invites Public Comments on Setting up Multi-Disciplinary Partnership Firms The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has released an office memorandum dated September 9, 2025, inviting public comments on establishing Indian Multi-Disciplinary Partnership Firms by the Indian Government. Multi-Disciplinary Partnership (MDP) is a firm or entity in which professionals from different areas, like chartered accountants, lawyers, company secretaries, engineers, etc., offer a wide range of services to clients under a single brand name. This way, all needs of a client, from auditing to legal work, everything, are met under a single firm. By doing this, the clients do not have to approach multiple firms for different services.

Even though India has many highly skilled professionals, Indian firms still play a small role in big audits and consulting services due to the current regulatory barriers. In india, the professionals like CAs and company secretaries face limitations on advertising their services. Additionally, there is a restriction on the CAs, company secretaries, lawyers, and actuaries to work under a single firm, which limits their ability to offer integrated services like the international firms. Therefore, to promote Indian firms to compete globally in the consulting and auditing fields, which are currently dominated by large international companies, the MCA has asked for public suggestions. In the memorandum, the MCA has added a background note and a questionnaire to understand the difficulties faced by Indian Firms, on which it has asked the public to give their suggestions for the needed amendments in the laws and regulations. These comments will help the Indian firms to compete on a global level.
