NBEMS Alert Students About False Emails, SMS and Social Media Content

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has cautioned applicants against falling for spoof emails, SMS messages, and social media posts purporting to be from NBEMS through a recent warning.

These guidelines were developed in response to NBEMS being aware of some dishonest agents/touts who are giving candidates fake or misleading information and spoofing emails, SMS messages, or social media posts under the NBEMS name in order to enrich themselves. Therefore, NBEMS cautioned all of the candidates not to fall for the charms or be duped by dishonest agents touting that they can assist any candidate in any way through the use of falsified documents, social media posts, or spoof emails or SMS.

It is advised to be aware of receiving any email, SMS, or message on social media in the name of NBEMS and to confirm the information received through SMS in the name of NBEMS with the relevant email or NBEMS website updates. NBEMS does not send any emails or SMS to candidates regarding securing good marks in any of the exams conducted by NBEMS, according to the notice.

If candidates are approached by any unscrupulous agents or touts offering any such undue favour or promising to provide question papers for NBEMS exams through any spoofed emails or SMS, phone calls, forged documents, or social media, they should report to NBEMS through its Communication Web Portal or to the local police for further investigation.

In addition, the letter sent by NBE recommended that candidates seek out information about NBEMS and its examinations by visiting the organization’s official websites. In addition, starting in July 2020, every notification issued by NBEMS has a QR code. Candidates can scan the code to be taken immediately to the notice on the NBEMS website.
