NEET Result 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET UG Results 2024 on June 4, 2024. The exam was conducted on May 5, 2024, from 2:00 to 05:20 PM. A total of 24 lakh candidates were present in the exam which was held across 4,750 centres, in 571 cities, and 14 international locations. As per the marking scheme, 4 marks were awarded for each correct answer and one mark was deducted for each incorrect answer. No marks were awarded in case any question was left unattempted by the candidate.

This year a total of 67 candidates scored a percentile score of 99.997129 in NEET UG 2024. After the result declaration, there were some reasons that caused controversy among students. 67 candidates got full marks i.e., 720 out of 720 and 44 out of the 67 who received full marks were awarded the All India Rank (AIR) 1. Some students got marks like 718 and 719 which are impossible to be gained in the NEET exam as per its marking scheme. This year NEET UG result was released 10 days earlier on June 4, 2024, the same day the LS poll result 2024 was released. One thing was noticed, most of the NEET UG toppers this year were from the same examination centres, which increased the chances of NEET question paper leaks. Also, there was an individual X on Twitter who explained the nature of “Scam” in the examination.

NEET Result 2024: Discrepancies in NEET Exam

Statement by one individual on Twitter who explained the nature of “Scam” in the NEET examination- “NEET 2024 EXAM HAS BEEN A SCAM! I will try to explain everything in the form of a thread. Online registrations for NEET UG 2024 started on 9th Feb 2024 and were extended till 16th March. Everything was well and good up to that point”.

The individual further said, “In a centre in Rajasthan, students reported that the centre gave them the question paper with pre-marked answers and then took it back. Hindi medium students received English paper.”

In another thread, the user said, “NTA clarified it immediately on the same day that the exam was re-conducted for 120 students.” In the next thread, the individual raised a question, Why was the NEET result this year, released that so earlier, about 10 days before? Also raised a point, how 8 candidates scored an AIR between 62 to 69 and were from the same exam centre (Haryana) and also had approximately the same exam roll numbers.

The individual further explained, 67 students got full marks i.e., 720 and on the other hand, there were two candidates who scored marks like 719 and 718 with AIR 68 and 69 respectively, which is not at all possible as per the NEET marking scheme.

The individual explained his/her view that the NEET-UG exam this year was held on June 5, 2024, the same day allegations were raised about the leak of the NEET question paper.

NEET Result 2024: NTA Explanation

The National Testing Agency (NTA), proved their view that they used a normalisation formula to stable the time lost by students at the point of examination. Hence, this resulted in two candidates achieving scores of 718 and 719.

NTA also explained the earlier allegations on the leak of the NEET question paper, clarified and claimed them to be ‘completely baseless and without any ground’. Said the images of the question paper circulated on the social media has no relation with the actual NEET question paper this year.

NTA statement– “It has been ascertained from NTA’s security protocols and protocols and Standard Operating Procedures that the social media posts pointing towards any paper leak are completely baseless and without any ground.”

NTA further shared about an incident held in one of the NEET exam centres in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur, where some students forcibly took away the question papers before the exams ended and the picture related to this incident uploaded on social media was linked to the incident of paper leak. The NTA termed it “mischievous and preposterous”.

NTA said on June 8, 2024, that the Education Ministry has set up a four-member panel to review the grace marks awarded to over 1,500 candidates in the NEET-UG exam.
