NEET-UG 2024 Irregularities: Rahul Gandhi Pledges to Represent Students’ Interests in Congress

On Sunday, Rahul Gandhi, the head of the ruling Congress party, said that almost 24 lakh students have been affected by the “irregularities” in the NEET medical entrance exam and pledged to represent “the students in Parliament.”

“In our manifesto, we promised to enact legislation to grant students “freedom from paper leaks.” In Parliament, I will speak for all of the nation’s kids and will forcefully bring up matters that affect their future,” the Congress leader declared yesterday.

A major controversy sprang out when 67 students—eight of whom came from the same Haryana centre—shared the top spot in the NEET-UG exam. The Congress accused the candidates of manipulating the results, inflating the marks, and leaking confidential documents.

“Narendra Modi has not even taken oath yet, and the irregularities in the NEET exam have devastated more than 24 lakh students and their families,” Gandhi said in Hindi on the day X.

The Congress leader pointed out that it is technically impossible for six pupils to receive the highest possible scores in an exam at a single testing location. He claimed that Congress has created a strong plan to address the problem and that a “paper leak industry” is operating with the cooperation of the government apparatus and the education mafia.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers the JEE exam, disregarded the claims of anomalies and document leaks, nevertheless, and established a high-level committee to look into the allegations of inflated grace marks.

A resolution encouraging Gandhi to assume the role of Leader of the Opposition was voted by the Congress Working Committee the day before Gandhi made his remarks. The leader of Congress stated that he would make a “decision on it very soon” and expressed respect for the CWC members’ opinions. As of yet, he has not made an official announcement.
