NEET UG 2024: Supreme Court to Hear 40 Petitions Regarding Cancellation of Medical Exam
NEET UG 2024: Today, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG 2024) exam cancellation petitions will be heard by the Supreme Court. In an attempt to prevent a plethora of lawsuits, the bench on Monday requested that cases against the NTA that were pending in many high courts regarding the NEET-UG dispute be transferred to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the main culprit in the NEET-UG paper leak case was placed in the custody of the CBI for 14 days on Wednesday by a special court in Patna.
More than 40 petitions against the NTA and on the cancellation of NEET will be heard by the highest court today. Over 23 lakh applicants for admission to MBBS and BDS programs in India will be impacted by the NEET UG SC ruling. Days before the exam, there were rumours on social media that the NEET paper had leaked. However, the NTA denied the reports and insisted that the exam would proceed according to plan. Subsequently, there was growing suspicion about a NEET paper leak after an unparalleled number of students received top marks in the 2024 results.
Many candidates requested a re-examination despite the NTA providing clarification on grace marks and toppers. The highest court further stated that if the paper was leaked on social media, another test would need to be done. In response, the Ministry of Education rejected Re-NEET and requested the director of IIT Madras to prepare a thorough investigation of the anomalies in the NEET findings.
According to IIT-M’s thorough examination, there was no widespread or isolated cheating in the NEET UG exam in 2024. “After requiring several data and facts from the NTA, the conclusions were drawn by IIT Madras through data analysis using Python for data processing, PostgreSQL for data storage, and Metabase for analysis,” the statement read.
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Jamshedpur’s 2017 batch civil engineer Pankaj Kumar, also known as Aditya, was taken into custody by the CBI yesterday on suspicion of stealing the NEET-UG paper from the NTA’s trunk in Hazaribagh.
All medical colleges can now submit information on the MBBS seats available for NEET UG counselling in 2024 using the site that has been enabled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Additionally, the Center stated that MCC NEET counselling for 2024 will start the third week of July.
