NEET UG 2024: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a PIL alleging the NEET 2024 paper leak. However, the Supreme Court has denied the petition to postpone the NEET UG 2024 outcome or to organize a new examination, citing concerns about the future of the 23 lakh students who took the exam.
The bench consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra ratified Vanshika Yadav’s PIL. However, the bench denied senior lawyer Narender Hooda’s request to conduct the NEET re-exam or stay the result pronouncement.

The petitioner stated, “Question paper leak weakens the A merit-based selection mechanism for medical colleges influencing the futures of numerous aspiring doctors. The Leakage skewed the outcomes in favor of those who had Access to the released documents, notwithstanding the efforts of “Honest and meritorious candidates.”

PIL Filed for NEET UG 2024 Re-examination

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) held the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on May 5, 2024. The news of the NEET UG paper leak spread quickly. As a result, one candidate, Vanshika Yadav, filed a petition with the Supreme Court of India for a re-examination for NEET UG 2024. However, the Supreme Court has denied the petition to conduct a new examination or to stay the declaration of the NEET UG 2024 result.
  • “Stay on the declaration of results will have huge consequences and impact more than 23 lakh students who took the test,” the court stated.
