NIRF Ranking 2024: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2024) for 13 categories—including engineering, medicine, and management—is anticipated to be released by the Union Ministry of Education. India’s top universities, colleges, and research institutions will be listed in the NIRF Ranking 2024. The Honorable Minister of Human Resource Development introduced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) on September 29, 2015, following its approval by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Five criteria are used by the ministry to rank colleges and universities: research, inclusivity, peer perception, teaching, learning, and resources.

The government proposed last year to replace the current system with a binary accrediting system with just three outcome categories, rather than using NAAC grades and scores, in order to incorporate Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the framework.

For the NIRF rankings in the previous year, 8,688 institutes registered. The Ministry of Education (MoE) will only take into account educational institutions that have graduated a minimum of three batches of students from full-time programs that last two years for postgraduate studies and three years for undergraduate studies. For seven years in a row, IIT Madras has been the best engineering school.

An approach to ranking colleges across the nation is outlined in this framework. The process for identifying the broad factors for evaluating different colleges and institutions is based on the overall recommendations and understanding reached by a Core Committee that was established by MHRD. The categories include “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
