She added, Scammers have recently been sending fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons to cheat or extort people, and these fake notices often look real. To prevent this, the ED now issues system-generated summons that include a QR code and a unique passcode, making it easy for citizens to verify authenticity. Anyone can check whether a summons is genuine by scanning the QR code on the notice or by visiting the official ED website. The ED has also clarified that it does not conduct digital or online arrests, so people should stay alert and avoid falling victim to fraudsters pretending to be ED officials.

How to verify by scanning a QR code? By following the below-mentioned steps, you can easily verify the authenticity of the summons: Step 1: Scan the QR code (printed on the summons)- this will redirect you to the ED's website. Step 2: Fill in the unique password printed on the summons. Step 3: If the information entered is correct, the content of the summons, such as the name, designation of the office, and date of summons, will be shown on the verification of the authenticity. How to verify by entering details? You can also verify the authenticity by entering the details. Following are the steps: Step 1: Visit the official ED's website and select 'Verify Your Summons.' Step 2: Fill in the required details and enter the passcode (printed on the summons).
