Parliament’s budget session will begin on January 31 and will split into two halves
The budget session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on January 31 and end on April 8.
From January 31 to February 11, the first half of the budget session will be held. It will reconvene on March 14 and sit through April 8, pending government demands.
On January 31, at 11 a.m., the President will address both Houses of Parliament assembled together.
On February 1, the government will present the Budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.
“The 256th Rajya Sabha Session (Budget Session – 2022) is scheduled to begin on Monday, January 31, and may end on Friday, April 8, depending on the demands of Government Business. During this time, the Chairman may be moved to kindly adjourn the Rajya Sabha on Friday, February 11 and reassemble on Monday, March 14 to allow the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to consider and prepare their reports on the ‘Demands for Grants relating to Ministries/Departments,’ “According to a letter from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs’ Additional Secretary-General.
Due to Holi, there will be no meeting on March 18.
“After its presentation in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, February 1 at 11.00 am, the Union Budget for 2022-23 will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha,” the letter stated.
More than 400 members of Parliament’s staff have recently tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha have examined the situation and instructed both chambers to draught a plan to ensure seamless functioning throughout the budget session of Parliament amid the COVID -19 Pandemic.
