RBI appoints Dr. Rajiv Ranjan as new Executive Director
Dr. Rajiv Ranjan has been named Executive Director (ED) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), effective May 1, 2022.
Dr. Ranjan was the Adviser-in-Charge of the Monetary Policy Department and the Secretary of the Monetary Policy Committee before to being appointed to ED.
Dr. Ranjan has worked in macroeconomic policy and research for almost three decades, specializing in monetary policy, fiscal policy, the real sector, the external sector, and international relations. He has worked at the Monetary Policy Department, the Department of Economic Policy and Research, the Department of External Investments and Operations, and the International Department of the RBI. He worked for the Central Bank of Oman for three years as an Economic Policy Expert.
Dr. Ranjan will oversee the Monetary Policy Department in his role as Executive Director (MPD).
In addition, Dr. Ranjan will participate on the Monetary Policy Committee as an ex-officio member.
Dr. Ranjan possesses a Ph.D. in Economics from Mumbai University and a Masters in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics.
