How to resolve GSTR 3B Error | Solution for GSTR 3B return filing error

Now a days while filing GSTR 3B, taxpayers are facing various errors. This is making it a never ending process of return filing, duplication of data entry in the return forms and waste of time and manpower resources.  This also causes a sense of fear & worry in the taxpayers  mind about  the  possible consequences  like penalty/fine, interest etc. due to errors in filing GSTR 3B.

The most common error faced is  Invalid return type “

And  a very easy solution for the same is : – While filing the return do not click on  the button  PREPARE ONLINE” instead click on column above which is “Monthly Return GSTR 3B“.  This will help you in resolving the error.

Solution for the “invalid return type” or “access denied” is also being displayed on CBEC website.

Same solution was even given by the official twitter handle in response to  grievances  raised.


Note : Please note the due dates for GSTR 3B may not get extended as told by GST council after the 21st GST Council Meeting held in Hyderabad.

Due dates for the filing GSTR 3B for August 2017 to December 2017 as per notification no. 35/2017 dated 15th September,2017 are : –
