SCOARA Criticises Advocate for Disrespecting Chief Justice of India

The Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCOARA) has recently passed a resolution disapproving of the recent actions of an advocate who disrespected the office and the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and other companion judges of the Supreme Court.

The association said that these kinds of behaviours are unethical and harm the dignity of the legal profession. It said that the act violates the constitutional values of decorum and discipline and institutional integrity. The SCOARA in the resolution further added that disrespecting a sitting judge of the Supreme Court directly attacks the independence of the Judiciary and also ruins the public trust in the Judiciary system.

The association mentioned that it reaffirms its faith in the principles of unity, secularism, and fraternity, which are the base of both our Constitution and the Bar’s collective conscience, but it also urges the members to maintain professional decorum and work together to keep the dignity and unity of the institution.

Supporting the Chief Justice of India and the independence of the Supreme Court of India, the SCOARA criticised the disrespectful behaviour of the advocate and said that such conduct is undermining the members of the Bar.

In the conclusion, SCOARA has also requested the Supreme Court to take the appropriate strict actions and proceedings against the responsible advocate. It said that this would become a great reminder that the law must be respected, and those who undermine the judiciary will face consequences.
