Shilpa Shetty Questioned for Hours in Rs 60 Crore Financial Fraud Case
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was questioned for about four and a half hours by the Economic Offences Wing (EoW) in connection with an alleged financial fraud case involving a businessman, officials said on Tuesday. The case is based on claims that a businessman was cheated of Rs 60 crore.
According to EoW officials, statements from five people, including Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, have been recorded as part of the investigation. The questioning mainly focused on Shilpa Shetty’s role and any possible involvement in the alleged financial dealings.
The complaint was filed by a businessman- Deepak Kothari, who alleged that between 2015 and 2023, the couple convinced him to invest Rs 60 crore in their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, but used the funds for their personal benefit instead.
Earlier, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra had approached the Bombay High Court seeking to suspend the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them, which would allow them to travel abroad.
In their petition, the couple stated that Shilpa Shetty had resigned from the company in September 2016. It also mentioned that Raj Kundra, being a businessman, often needs to travel abroad, while Shilpa Shetty, as an actress, must go overseas for professional work.
