State received Rs.15,610.94 crore from IGST so far this Financial Year According to data presented in the State Legislature on Friday, Kerala has received 15,610.94 crore in Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) through February of this financial year. Responding to questions in the Parliament, Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal stated that the State has repeatedly urged that the Central Government and the GST Council ensure correctness in IGST payments. The State GST department, on its part, has taken steps to ensure timely filing of returns and generation of e-way bills. According to him, such initiatives are likely to increase IGST inflows compared to past years. The IGST inflow to the state was recently in the news, with the opposition accusing the government for failing to claim its fair share. The State received 10,619.71 crore in 2019-20, 10,938.18 crore in 2020-21, and 14,098.27 crore in 2021-22, according to data on IGST inflow given in the Legislature. In response to a related query, Mr. Balagopal stated that the Goods and Services Tax Settlement of Funds Regulations, 2017, do not state that the State GST and IGST share shall equal 2:3.
