Startup Founder Faces Frustration After 10-Month Struggle for GST Approval

Submitted Almost All Documents Except His Blood Type, Still No GST, Bengaluru Businessman takes a dig
For the past ten months, entrepreneur Pritam Kudev has been trying and failing to get a GST registration for his startup, Mannlich. First time, he applied in West Bengal but kept getting rejected, even after sending clarifications. After several failed attempts, he tried again in Tamil Nadu. Even after submitting every possible document except his blood type, he still didn’t get approval. Frustrated, he joked on LinkedIn that doing business in India is only “easy” for those who’ve never applied for GST.
After reviewing his post of LinkedIn post, a user replied, a former client also gave up on entrepreneurship after facing multiple rejections of GST within three months and then returned to a salaried job. For him, entrepreneurship was dead on that day. Some other person replied "ridiculous," saying that the government follows a long and complicated process, which creates delays not only in business formations but also in generating its own tax revenues.
People applying for GST often face problems like website errors, incorrect documents, or issues with address proof. Even a small error, like PAN and Aadhaar mismatches or a lapsed digital signature, can halt the entire process.
It takes ages to get GST approval. Officials will keep asking for more information or even wish to visit the place of business, particularly if it's a small or new company. This delays things immensely.
Where you are located also makes a difference. Rural or offshore residents frequently experience internet problems and must depend on assistance from GST help centres or costly consultants.
To prevent such issues, experts advise you to ensure all your documents are accurate and that information such as PAN, Aadhaar, and address is the same. It's also advisable to apply during off-peak hours in order to prevent website problems and to seek assistance from professionals if your business is huge or has special needs.
