The matter is related to a demand notice issued by the District Mining Officer, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, raising an amount of Rs 385.19 crore for the period Financial Year 2000-01 to FY 2016-17. The DMO claimed that the company's collieries at Jharia had produced excess coal, which was more than the allowed limits. The notice was challenged before the Revisional Authority, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, by Tata Steel. As per the latest update in the case, the Revisional Authority in its order dated March 24, 2026, has stopped the state authorities from taking any coercive steps against Tata Steel during the pendency of revision applications filed by the company.Financial Impact
