Teachers and Students are Approaching Supreme Court Amid NEET Exam 2024 Irregularities

The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) released the Result on 4th June 2024 and since then NEET and their controversy started. As it was advent that this year NEET created havoc amongst students because of their results and paper leak. This year over 24 Lakh Candidates participated in the NEET UG Exam which was administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 5th May 2024 from 2 pm to 5:20 pm at 1450 centers in 571 cities (including 14 cities abroad).

According to the National Testing Agency, 1,563 students made up for lost time in NEET 2024, and 44 out of the 67 candidates who scored all 720 points were given an All India Rank (AIR) 1 because of a physics question with two correct answers. The exam authority provided an explanation in response to inquiries from students regarding the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) result 2024.

8 of the 67 candidates who received rank one and the NEET 2024 scores were from the same centre, which caused controversy. Students who received grace marks from the NTA also received scores of 718 and 719.

A writ suit alleging question paper leaks was previously filed in the Supreme Court, seeking a rescheduling of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate (NEET-UG) 2024 exam.

The writ petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution requires the National Testing Agency to repeat the exam in light of the claims of the paper leak. The petitioners want the exam to be cancelled since they don’t think the one that was held on 5th May 2024, was legitimate. The petition was filed on 1st June 2024, and it is expected to be heard during this week’s vacation bench hearing.

The Supreme Court was considering another suit seeking similar remedies when it decided not to delay the release of the NEET-UG exam results on 17th May. They said that the alleged paper leak was unfair to some applicants and breached Article 14 since it prevented others from choosing to take the test in a fair manner. DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, presided over the bench, which ruled that despite having received notice of the petition and posted the matter in July, the findings of the tests conducted nationwide could not be halted.

The NEET results released, however, caused a shift in the dynamics. Teachers and students now work together to send a legal notice to NTA with the assistance of Advocate Rohit. If they don’t receive any response from NTA, then they will this matter to the Supreme Court. Previously, we discovered that students were confused due to Mark distribution.
