The big guns: According to data, the top 20 mutual funds held 4.5 percent cash in March
At the end of March, the top 20 funds had an average cash holding of 4.5 percent of their stock holdings. Seven funds retained more than 5% cash, with SBI Mutual Fund (12.4%), Axis MF (10.2%), and ICICI Prudential MF (9.4%) holding the highest.
In March 2022, total equity value for the top 20 AMCs gained 5.1 percent month over month (MoM) and 35.6 percent year over year (YoY), compared to a MoM increase of 4% (18.9% YoY) for the Nifty50.
SBI MF (7.2%), HDFC MF (5.7%), Kotak Mahindra MF (5.2%), UTI MF (5 per cent), and Axis MF (4.9 per cent) had the greatest MoM increases among the top ten funds.
The greatest MoM increases were witnessed in SBI MF (7.2%), HDFC MF (5.7%), Kotak Mahindra MF (5.2%), UTI MF (5%), and Axis MF (5%) among the top ten funds (4.9 per cent).
The equity exposure of all MF schemes, including balanced and other plans, is represented by the equity value. Cash is calculated by subtracting equity AUM from total AUM; only equity growth schemes have been taken into account.
