UGC NET Exam Cancel: UGC NET Exam Cancelled the Day After It Was Conducted

UGC NET Exam Cancel: On Tuesday, i.e., 18th June 2024, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar made an X, the news that “Today, NTA has successfully conducted UGC – NET June 2024 for determining the eligible candidates for (i) ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, (ii) ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD’ and (iii) ‘admission to PhD only’ in 83 subjects in OMR (Pen and Paper) mode in two (02) different shifts (09:30 AM to 12:30 Noon and 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM).”

“The examination was given to 11,21,225 candidates at 1,205 Exam Centers located in 317 cities around the nation. Approximately 81% of all applicants who had enrolled showed up for the examination. Greetings and best wishes to each and every contender “in his letter.

The Ministry of Education cancelled the National Testing Agency’s UGC-NET exam just one day after it was scheduled, raising concerns about the NEET controversy even as it approaches a boiling point. In order to evaluate eligibility for junior research fellowships and to fill assistant professor positions in universities and colleges, more than 9 lakh students took the exam.

Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra responded to the announcement right away, criticizing the government’s “laxity” and demanding that accountability be fixed.

“National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs provided the University Grants Commission (UGC) with some input on the Examination on 19th June 2024. These inputs suggest that there may have been a compromise to the integrity of the previously mentioned examination,” the statement stated.

The examination will be rescheduled for a later date, according to the ministry, which stated that it is cancelling the June 2024 exam “to ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process.”

Although the government did not confirm the reports, there have been rumours that the exam paper was leaked. It merely stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation has been tasked with looking into the situation.
