UGC publishes a list of defaulting universities without appointed Ombudsperson
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has published an updated list of universities that, in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023, have not nominated an Ombudsperson or Ombudspersons. In the updated list of universities, there are about 63 universities.
“This is in continuation of the Public Notice of even number dated 01.06.2024 containing a list of universities that have not appointed the ombudsperson(s) as per the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023,” reads an official notification from the UGC. The list has been updated as of 1st July 2024 and is appended herewith, per the notification from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) regarding the appointment of an Ombudsperson.
There are 46 state institutions listed as of this update that have not yet designated an Ombudsperson. There are 11 deemed institutions and six private universities on the list.

Universities that have hired or will appoint an ombudsperson in the future are permitted to share the full information of that appointment in the emails shared by the UGC.
