A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Sydney and O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) enables business students to split their academic time between Australia and India.

The MoU stipulates that students may complete two degrees in Australia and India.

According to the official announcement, students who enroll in JGU’s Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons), Bachelor of Commerce (Hons), or Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Finance and Entrepreneurship programme will first spend two years in India before moving to Australia to finish the University of Sydney Business School’s undergraduate commerce programme. According to the announcement, students who successfully complete the programme will receive a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney. They may also apply to JGU for their degree.

Participating students may be qualified to use the Australian Government‘s Post-Education Work stream visa to stay in Australia and work for an additional two years after completing their two years of study at the University of Sydney.

The MoU was signed on September 7 at JGU in Sonipat, northern India, by Mark Scott, vice-chancellor and president of the University of Sydney, Kirsten Andrew, vice-president for external engagement, C. Raj Kumar, vice-chancellor of JGU, and professor and registrar Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik.

Professor Scott is in India to take part in the Australia India Leadership Dialogue and to deepen the university’s connection with the country. According to him, the collaboration with JGU demonstrated the significance of Australia’s links with India and the University of Sydney’s dedication to giving brilliant Indian students chances.

“Our partnership with JGU give students the chance to earn two degrees in just four years and experience university life in Sydney. We know these students will enrich our community enormously.” Scott said.
