UP Teacher Taken into Custody for Sexually Abusing Class 10th Student, School Sealed
UP police reported on Thursday that a teacher in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for sexually harassing a student of class 10th at a private school. The student was only 16 years old. The school is now sealed by the education department due to 'irregularities' in the area of the Budhana Police Station. The school was allowed to admit students only up to class 8, but officials said it was also teaching students in classes 9 and 10.
The Budhana Circle Officer Gajendra Pal Singh said to reporters that the name of the teacher is Shehzad, who was taken into custody on Wednesday as per sections 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75 (sexual harassment), and 351 (criminal intimidation) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The school is now sealed by the education department. The education department has notified the school that it has been sealed due to 'irregularities' and asked for an investigation. It has been discovered that the school only had permission to run classes up upto 8th, however, it was illegally running 9th and 10th grade classes, officers said.
