UPSC Prelims 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will administer the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025 tomorrow, May 25, 2025. The exam will be conducted in two shifts, first from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and second from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Paper I will be held for General Studies, including 100 MCQ-type questions, and Paper II will be held for CSAT, including 80 MCQ-type questions. The exam will also consist of a provisional negative marking. Hence, candidates should attempt to answer when they are completely sure about it. Only candidates shortlisted for the Prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the Mains exam. Candidates who have registered for the exam must be clear about the exam day guidelines to prevent discrepancies in the examination.

UPSC Prelims 2025: Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates who are eligible to appear for the UPSC Prelims 2025 examination must go through the exam day guidelines listed in the admit card properly and also visit the official website regularly for the latest updates regarding the examination. Below are listed a few essential instructions for tomorrow’s examination:

  • Admit Card: Candidates are advised to go through the instructions mentioned on the admit card deeply and carry a hardcopy of it along with a photo identity proof (Number of the proof should be there in the e-admit card, in each session to get admitted to the examination hall).
  • Entry into Examination Hall: Candidates are required to reach the examination centres 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the exam beginning, as mentioned in the admit card (9:00 AM for the morning shift and 02:00 PM for the afternoon shift). Candidates reaching the centre even one minute after this time will not be permitted to enter the hall. Hence, candidates are always advised to reach the examination hall on time. Even a minute can waste years of hard work.
  • Into Examination Hall: Inside the examination hall, candidates are not permitted to enter with any electronic devices such as smartphones, pen drives, smart watches, cameras, Bluetooth devices and other devices that can be used as a means of unfair practice.
  • Only the use of simple or normal watches is allowed in the examination.
  • Pen Allowed: Only a Black ball-point pen is allowed to fill in the OMR sheet in the exam. All other coloured pens are restricted to the hall.
  • Scribe Instructions: Candidates who have chosen a scribe. These candidates must be aware that scribes are not allowed into the examination hall when they have a separate admit card.

UPSC Prelims 2025: Shift Timings

The UPSC Prelims 2025 will be held in two shifts, first shifts will be held for Paper I for General Studies, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and second shift will be held for Paper II for CSAT, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
