Uttar Pradesh: GST Raid on Bajpayee Kachori Bhandar: Sales Double the Declared Amount Bajpayee Kachori Bhandar is a popular and well-known food shop in Lucknow, famous for its kachori and khasta. People usually wait in long lines every day to have these kachories and khastas. However, on Friday, when the State Tax Department's SIB team arrived, the line disappeared, and the staff became anxious. The shop and its warehouse were raided by the department. During the investigation, officials found that the actual sales were nearly double what had been reported. They are now comparing the data by seizing relevant documents. The raid was conducted after a GST evasion complaint was filed. The shop was showing sales of around Rs 10 lakh per month and paying tax on declared quarterly sales of Rs 30 lakh. However, when the invesigation was done, it was found that the actual sales were much higher than that of told. It was found that the shop was not issuing sales bills, and the operator was declaring sales figures on his own. The investigation of documents at the shop and warehouse showed that the actual sales were much higher than what was declared. An initial investigation by the SIB showed that the shop's quarterly sales could be a minimum of Rs 50 lakh or more. The authorities are now evaluating the tax evasion. They have seized other documents, including purchase and sale bills, for further review.
