Uttarakhand's GST Collection Shows Impressive Boost by 11%; Ranks Second After Ladakh
The Goods and Services Collection in Uttarakhand has recorded an increase of 11% within a year. The Revenue collected in FY 2023-24 was Rs. 8,403 crore, which rose to Rs. 9360 crore. As per the state tax department, the GST collected in March 2025 stood at Rs. 1742 crore as compared to the collection of GST in March 2023, which was Rs. 1730.
This boost in Uttarakhand's GST revenue came after the State Tax Department introduced a special campaign against traders who didn’t file GST returns. Over 4,000 such dealers were found with dues worth crores. The department recovered lakhs of rupees and even suspended the registrations of many traders who failed to file returns.
Uttarakhand's GST earnings went up by 11% this year, matching the national growth rate. Among Himalayan states, it ranks second after Ladakh (13%). Himachal and Tripura grew by 10%, Jammu and Kashmir by 7%, Assam and Meghalaya by 6%, Nagaland by 2%, Sikkim by 3%, while Mizoram and Arunachal saw a drop of 3% and 4% respectively. West Bengal also matched the national growth with 11%.
Maharashtra again ranked first in the highest GST collection among all states in March 2025, with GST collection of Rs. 32,335 crore, growing 14%.
