Gurugram, Haryana, State Vigilance Bureau has arrested two persons, including an inspector of the Excise and Taxation Department while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for issuing a GST number.

As per Officials, they had demanded a bribe of Rs 7 lakh from the complainant.

According to Inspector Sumit Kumar, who leads the SVB squad in Karnal, GST Inspector Sumitra Godara was apprehended at her Excise and Taxation Department office in Gurugram’s sector 34.

Inspector Kumar said they also detained another Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) from Faridabad, Roshan Lal, for directing the building material seller to Godara after rejecting his application for a GST number.
