UltraTech Cement has been hit with an income tax demand of ₹808.78 crore, according to a recent regulatory disclosure by the company.

UltraTech Cement slapped with Rs. 808.78 Cr Income Tax Demand
UltraTech Cement Limited has received assessment order under Section 143(3) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 for Assessment Year 2023-24 having a tax demand of Rs. 808.78 crores (including interest). This was informed by the company in SEBI compliance disclosure.
The assessing officer has made certain additions/disallowances on account of tax holiday claims, TP adjustment, ESOP expenses, etc.
The Company informed that it has strong legal grounds to nullify the entire demand since most of the grounds are covered by favourable orders of appellate authorities in own case for past years.
The Company is in process of filing an appeal before the Commissioner of Income Tax (appeals), against the said order within the prescribed timelines. The Company does not expect any impact on financial operations of the Company.
