2 Income Tax Officers Arrested for threatening to initiate false report and demanding Bribe of 20K

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three accused Including an Income Tax Officer (ITO), Steno of the Income Tax Office and a Branch Manager for accepting undue advantage in two separate cases of bribery.

In the first case, the CBI arrested an Income Tax Officer and a Steno from the Income Tax Office in Fatehpur of Uttar Pradesh after taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant.

The CBI filed a case based on a complaint saying that the accused Income Tax Officer and Steno demanded an undue benefit of Rs.25,000, threatening to file a false report and imposing a fine on the complainant’s customer service portal if the bribe was not paid. The accused decreased the bribe amount to Rs.20,000 during negotiations.

The CBI set a trap and caught the said Steno red-handed while taking undue advantage of Rs.10,000 from the complainant at the behest of the said ITO. Both were arrested. Searches are being undertaken at the accused’s premises.

In the second case, the CBI arrested the Branch Manager of Aryavart Bank’s Ajnar Branch in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, after accepting a bribe of Rs. 6000 from the complainant.

A case was registered against the said Branch Manager on a complaint alleging that the accused demanded an undue advantage of Rs. 5000 for allowing withdrawal from the loan account of his father. During the negotiation, the accused increased the demand for a bribe to Rs. 6000.

The CBI set a trap and caught the accused Branch Manager red-handed while taking an undue benefit of Rs. 6,000 from the complainant. The accused has been arrested.

Searches are being undertaken at the accused’s premises.

The arrested accused will be produced before the Designated Courts. The investigation is continuing.
