2 Lakh Jobs: NCS Portal Records Over Two Million Vacancies
The agency of Labour and Employment’s National Career Service (NCS) portal showed almost two million active job openings as of July 30, 2024. The industries with the most openings were manufacturing, operations and support, banking and insurance, and manufacturing, among others, the agency said.
The NCS portal offers job opportunities across various industry sectors, such as wholesale and retail (0.25 lakh), manufacturing (0.71 lakh), transport and storage (0.59 lakh), education (0.43 lakh), finance and insurance (14.7 lakhs), operations and support (1.08 lakh), other service activities (0.75 lakh), manufacturing (0.71 lakh), IT and communication (0.58 lakh), education (0.43 lakh), and health (0.2 lakh).
“This wide variety of openings represents the wide range of job requirements and business needs throughout the nation,” the ministry stated in a statement on Tuesday.
“This achievement underscores the platform’s expanding role and effectiveness in bridging the gap between job seekers and employment opportunities across diverse sectors,” stated the statement.
Recruiters are becoming more accepting of and drawn to the NCS portal, according to the statement, because of the ministry’s ongoing efforts and regular interactions with employers, trade associations, and staffing companies.
The NCS portal offers a range of employment-related services to support different stakeholders, such as employers, job seekers, career exchanges (career centers), counselors, training providers, educational institutions, and placement agencies. These services include career counseling, vocational guidance, job search and matching, and information on skill development courses and internships.
Job fairs, direct employer reporting, job fairs, and API connectivity with many private job portals are just a few of the ways that job searchers may now access openings through the NCS Portal, which has grown to be a vital resource.
Most of the existing job positions, according to the ministry, are appropriate for applicants with up to a 12th grade education, as well as those with an ITI and diploma.
The statement said, “While specialized positions are also available for individuals with higher education or other expert qualifications,” saying that the NCS portal’s dedication to accommodating a range of skill levels and professional competence is highlighted by the large variety of job openings.
The ministry also stated that it is working to upgrade the NCS portal to NCS 2.0, which would include artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technology, as part of its ongoing efforts to make the portal better.
It said, “With this, the portal will be able to offer more services and benefits to all the stakeholders, mainly businesses and job seekers”.
