37 locations searched by CBI over irregularities in finance dept recruitment exam In connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the written examination for the position of Accounts Assistant in the Finance Department of J&K, the Central Bureau of Investigation is currently conducting searches at 37 locations in 6 Districts of J&K, including Jammu, Doda, Reasi, Rajouri, Samba, and Udhampur (FAA). The J&K Service Selection Board administered the examination in question (JKSSB). On 28.11.2022, the J&K Government requested that CBI open an investigation into claims of irregularities in the written test that J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) conducted on 06.03.2022, in order to fill the position of Accounts Assistant Finance (FAA). Results were announced on April 21, 2022. An inquiry committee was earlier established by the J&K government to investigate into claims of exam fraud. In the Committee's report, it was claimed that JKSSB officials, a private organisation with headquarters in Bengaluru, beneficiary candidates, and others conspired to conduct the written examination for the position of Accounts Assistant Finance Department with serious irregularities. Furthermore, it was claimed that a disproportionately high number of the chosen candidates came from the Jammu, Kathua, and Reasi districts. It also discovered the claimed rule infringement by JKSSB insofar as the responsibility of creating the question paper was given to a private Bengaluru-based company. The probe is still ongoing.
