Hyderabad city police arrested four people on Tuesday, four days after a dacoity occurred at the Siddi Vinayaka gold shop in Monda Market. They were encouraged to do crime by Akshay Kumar's 'Special 26' and a Surya film.
Rehman Gafoor Athar, Zakir Ghani Athar, Praveen Yadav, and Akash Arun Hovil, all from Sangli in Maharashtra, were detained, according to Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand. Six other suspects are still at large: Abhijit Kumar Godike and Amol Ganpatrav Jadhav of Sangli, Siddanath, Sanjay Parsuram Jadhav, Shubham Vinod Jadhav, and Aja Vinodh Jadhav of Goa.
Zakir, the accused, formerly worked at this business.
On May 27, a team of ten men committed fraud by posing as Income Tax authorities on their way to perform a raid at the workshop. Five people entered the premises, while the remainder remained outside the factory building. The accused stole 1.7 kilogramme gold biscuits worth Rs.60 lakh after flashing their bogus identities and claimed that they are grabbing the material. They shut the door as they were leaving.
"After collecting the booty, the gang split into two groups." One party travelled to Sangli, the other to Goa. We apprehended the four members of the gang who were on their way to Sangli. Police are still looking for the fugitive accused who fled to Goa. The remaining booty is with these accused," Anand stated.
According to police, Zakir, who temporarily worked in the workshop after Ramzan, believed gold might be stolen from there and alerted his family in Sangli, who conspired to commit crime. Except for one of the ten defendants, all of the others committed the offence for the first time. When police attempted to arrest the suspects in Maharashtra, residents protested and filed a complaint with the local police. However, police communicated with their counterparts and enlisted their assistance in apprehending the culprits.
