A public technical university, the National Institute of Technology Calicut, formerly known as Regional Engineering College Calicut. It is an institution of national importance mandated by the NIT Act passed by the Indian Parliament. It is one of the top 10 engineering colleges in Kerala. Its campus is located in Kozhikode on the Kozhikode-Mukkam Road, 22 kilometres northeast of Kozhikode.
