No Plan to merge NEET, JEE with CUET for next 2 Years: Education Minister
The Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan informed that govt has no plans to merge the engineering entrance exam JEE and medical entrance exam NEET with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
The minister during his one day visit to Kota in an interaction with students, mostly hailing from his home state Odisha, of Allen Career Institute said, “Students shouldn’t be concerned, as the merger of exams is still just an “idea” and not a “decision”.”
JEE and NEET would eventually be combined with the CUET, according to University Grants Commission Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, who made this announcement last month.
There is no suggestion to combine NEET, JEE, and CUET, and it will take at least two years to deliberate on the idea and have an unified test, the official said.
Furthermore, the UGC chairman had previously stated that while the merger would not be “hurried up,” problems with CUET UG would not impede the exam’s expansion goals.
According to the NEP, a common admission exam is being considered in order to relieve students of the difficulty of taking several entrance exams. We won’t rush to launch it, though, as we need to make a good plan first. We are organising this enormous effort and applying the lessons we have discovered from running CUET, the chairman stated.
“The commission will establish a committee of experts to investigate all significant entrance tests taking place both domestically and overseas. The preparation must begin now, given the extensive exercise and the several disciplines involved, if we are required to introduce the exam next year”, Kumar had stated.
