CBI arrest an Executive Director of Gail and Director of Private Company in alleged Bribery of Rs.50 Lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested an Executive Director(Projects), Gas Authority of India Ltd(GAIL); CGM, Gas Authority of India Ltd and three private persons including Director of a Vadodara(Gujarat) based private company, in an alleged bribery of Rs.50 Lakh.

A case was registered against an Executive Director(Projects), Gas Authority of India Ltd(GAIL), Noida; a private company based at Vadodara & its Director; a CGM, Gas Authority of India(GAIL); a Senior General Manager of MECON Limited; two private persons, resident of Delhi & Jhajjar(Haryana) and unknown others on the allegations that the Executive Director(Projects), GAIL in conspiracy with others was extending undue favour in connection with SAPL (Srikakulam Angul Pipeline) and VAPL(Vijaipur Auraiya Pipeline) Projects of GAIL.

It was further claimed that the Director of said private firm negotiated the Rs.50 lakh bribe through two private individuals. It was also claimed that a bribe of Rs.50 lakh will be given to the public worker by a private individual.

CBI set a trap. Both were caught after the bribe was delivered to the public worker by the claimed private individual. The bribe of Rs.50 lakh was recovered from ED(Projects). Searches were undertaken at the accused’s homes in Delhi, Noida, Visakhapatnam, and Vadodara, resulting in the collection of damning documents and digital data, among other things.

The apprehended defendant will be brought before the Competent Court.
