Agra Sanitation Worker gets whopping Rs.34 Crore Income Tax Notice despite earning Rs.15,000
A Sanitation worker in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra received an income tax notice of Rs.34 crore, as reported on Wednesday.
This event occurred just days after a juice trader in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh was issued an income tax notice for Rs.7.5 crore.
Karan Kumar, the sanitation worker, stated that he originally did not grasp the meaning of the sign, but received a “jolt of his life” when he did, with the assistance of several individuals. He filed a report with the Chandaus police station.
The March 22 letter states, “As per the records, the assessee, Karan Kumar, has not filed his ITR for AY 2019-20. According to the records, the assessee earned Rs.33,85,85,368 in 2019-20.”
Kumar worked as a sanitation worker at the SBI office in Khair, Agra, earning Rs.15,000 per month. He has been working contractually since 2021, according to the report.
The man suspected that his PAN card information had been misused by “someone”. He also remembered giving his PAN and other identification documents to his prior employer in Noida in 2019.
In response to the claims, Nain Singh, an IT officer deployed in Aligarh, stated that Kumar’s PAN details stored in their system indicated “high income.”
“We will put all these cases in faceless I-T assessment, and if we find that their PAN cards are misused, we will carry out a probe,” he claimed.
