Assam FCI Scam: CBI files Chargesheet against Ex-FCI official in Rs.55.28L Fraud Case The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has filed a chargesheet against then Deputy General Manager(Region), Food Corporation of India, Guwahati(Assam) and Proprietor of a private company based at Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar (Assam) in an on-going investigation of a case. On the allegations that there were anomalies in awarding of contract for transportation of foodgrains and manipulation in sanctioning transportation bills showing undue favour to private contractor, a case was registered on 28.10.2021 against said DGM and others including a Proprietor of private company based at Kokrajhar(Assam). The Government Exchequer allegedly suffered a loss of Rs. 55,28,829 (approx). CBI previously conducted searches at the premises of accused. Documents relating to FCI Transport Contracts, handwritten transcripts of records of purchases and payments, information from a bank pass book, and chequebooks with record slips were found at the home of the said Proprietor.
