Bank Holidays May 2024; Check the Full List Here Banks will be closed for up to 12 days in May 2024, as per the holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This covers all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays, which are the weekend holidays. Several important Indian festivals, including May Day, Rabindranath Tagore's birth anniversary, Nazrul Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya, and others, fall in May. In May 2024, the national and regional banks in India will be closed for approximately eleven days during the second month of the new financial year. As per the annual list released by the RBI, the public and private sector banks in India will be closed for a maximum of 12 days in May 2024, inclusive of weekend leaves. It is important to mention that not all states or regions will have their banks closed for 12 days. During these days, internet banking services will remain available. There will also be an ATM service accessible. A small number of the holidays on the list are public holidays, while others are exclusive to certain states or regions. The holidays that will fall in the month of May are - Maharashtra Din/May Day (Labour Day) on May 1, Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore (Rabindra Jayanti) on May 8, Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya on May 10, State Day on May 16, Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 on May 20, Buddha Pournima on May 23 and Nazrul Jayanti on May 25. Apart from this list, as per the Holiday Under Negotiable Instruments Act, the banks will also remain closed on May 5 (Sunday), May 11 (Second Saturday), May 12 (Sunday), May 19 (Sunday), May 25 (Fourth Saturday (Nazrul Jayanti)), May 26 (Sunday). May 1: Maharashtra Din/May Day (Labour Day) on

Banks in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad - Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad - Telangana, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram will be closed for Maharashtra Din/May Day holiday.

May 5: Sunday

All Banks will be closed on May 5 as it is Sunday.

May 8: Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore (Rabindra Jayanti)

All banks in Kolkata will be closed for Rabindra Jayanti on May 8.

May 10: Basava Jayanti/ Akshaya Tritiya

There will be a bank holiday for all the banks in Bengaluru on the occasion of Basava Jayanti/ Akshaya Tritiya on May 10.

May 11: Second Saturday

Banks all over India will be closed on May 11 on the occasion of Second Saturday.

May 12: Sunday

All Banks will be closed on May 12 as it is Sunday.

May 16: State Day

All banks in Gangtok will be closed for the State Day Holiday on May 16.

May 19: Sunday

All Banks will be closed on May 19 as it is Sunday.

May 20: Lok Sabha General Elections 2024

For the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 that is going to be held between April to June, all the banks of Belapur and Mumbai will be closed on May 20.

May 23: Buddha Pournima

All Banks in the states of Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar will be closed on the occasion of Buddha Pournima Holiday.

May 25: Nazrul Jayanti/ Fourth Saturdays

All banks in Agartala will be closed for the Nazrul Jayanti Holiday on May 25. For the remaining states, the bank will be closed for the Fourth Saturday Holiday.

May 26: Sunday

All Banks will be closed on May 26 as it is Sunday.
