Banking Crisis Exposed! Shocking Workload & Harassment Putting Employees’ Lives at Risk
A user named Prabin Biswas at platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) has written a representation to the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and the Government of India, requesting an urgent intervention to address exploitation, work overload, and inhuman treatment of bank officers.
He has written the representation on behalf of the All India We Bankers Officers Association. He tried to catch the government’s immediate attention to the worst situations faced by thousands of bank officers nationwide. He flagged that day by day, their members are facing:
These practices have given birth to a harmful and unsafe work environment. It is sad news that in recent years, several bank officers have committed suicide due to this extreme pressure and constant harassment. These are not random cases but the result of ongoing managerial pressure, unrealistic targets, and a complete failure of employers to care for their staff. This is a matter of national shame and needs immediate, independent investigation, along with both legal and administrative accountability. Such avoidable loss of life requires urgent action from your ministry.
He further, humbly, requested the ministry to immediately intervene in this situation and take the following actions:
Bank officers play a crucial role in keeping the country’s economy stable and running. Allowing harmful practices that push them into despair or even death is unacceptable. Hence, considering all the malpractices done to bank officers, the department should treat this issue as its priority and should take immediate action to safeguard the lives, rights, and dignity of all bank officers.
To,
The Secretary

Government of India
