Rajya Sabha MP Urges Extension of Income Tax Deadlines for AY 2025-26 Amid Portal Glitches
Narayanasa K. Bhandage, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha has submitted a representation to Finance Minister (Ministry of Finance), Government of India regarding the request for Extension of deadlines under the Income Tax Act, 1961 due to delay in utilities releases and portal glitches issues for AY 2025-26.
He requested on behalf of taxpayers, Chartered Accountants and business entities across the country related to the ongoing challenges in meeting statutory due dates under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
He further added that several critical filing utilities, such as Tax Audit Reports (TAR) and Transfer Pricing Reports, have either been released belatedly or remain unstable on the Income Tax e-filing portal. Additionally, constant technical issues, slow server response, and continuous downtimes have slowed down the ability of stakeholders to comply with their obligations in a timely and efficient manner.
These delays put a heavy burden on taxpayers and small businesses, who need reliable access to services and a stable portal. It would be unfair to penalise them for delays they cannot control.
Considering the above, Narayanasa K. Bhandage urges to grant a reasonable extension of the following statutory due dates for AY 2025-26.
