BHIM 3.0 Launched with Advanced Features to Track, Monitor and Split Expenses; Know the Details

Now, BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) lets users track, manage, and split expenses with friends, family, and colleagues. NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a subsidiary of NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), has launched BHIM 3.0. The new version will be released over time on platforms like the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Android users. It is expected to be fully available by April 2025. Currently, around 486 banks are active on the BHIM app.

Supports 15+ Indian Languages: Users are able to access the app in their preferred language for convenient use.

Works with slow Internet: Make transactions even in places with weak or unstable internet connections.

Better Payment Success: Experience quicker and smoother payments with enhanced processing.

Expense Tracking and Management: Users can monitor and manage their spending easily.

Expense Splitting: Option to split bills with friends, family, or colleagues directly in the app.

According to a specialist, “In February 2025, the combined UPI apps with the largest share handled 91.82% of all UPI transactions by volume and 92.08% by value, while BHIM accounted for just 0.23% and 0.39%, respectively. Launching BHIM 3.0 is hoping to boost these figures with its improved features and user experience.”

Additionally, with BHIM 3.0, users can now monitor, control, and share their expenses with ease. A special dashboard facilitates tracking of monthly spends, giving insights into spending habits. This is done via the new spend analytics feature, which automatically breaks down and categorizes spending, making budgeting easier without the need for complex spreadsheets.

In addition, users can invite members of their family, track combined expenses, and assign some payments to individual members. This feature makes it easier to plan finances by providing a collective view of overall household spending, making it transparent and easier to control budgets.

BHIM 3.0 comes with a default task manager that reminds users to pay any pending bills linked to their BHIM app. It also supports UPI Lite for low-value transactions, ensuring smoother payments. Users will receive alerts whenever their LITE wallet balance is low, allowing them to manage funds efficiently. Moving forward, all UPI Lite-related activities can be handled directly within the BHIM app.

For merchants, BHIM 3.0 introduces BHIM Vega, a smooth in-app payment solution designed to simplify transactions. This feature combines with online merchant platforms, enabling customers to complete payments instantly within the app without switching to third-party payment applications.
