Breaking: Maharashtra govt slashes VAT on CNG from 13.5% to 3%
The Maharashtra Government has Announced to reduce the VAT on CNG from 13.5% to 3 % from April 1, 2022.
At a time when petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing due to the rise in crude oil prices caused by the Russia-Ukraine War conflict, CNG will be cheaper in Maharashtra beginning April 1, as the state government has reduced the value-added tax (VAT) from 13.5% to 3%.
Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, announced in the annual state budget for 2022-23 that the government would take steps to reduce CNG prices. In this regard, the government has issued a gazette notification.
According to Pawar, the government will suffer a loss of Rs 800-Rs 1,000 crore as a result of the VAT reduction on CNG.
